Activities and Groups

Pleasant Valley Men's Club

The Men's Club meets the third Tuesday every month to study the Bible, complete work projects, remove trash from along County Route 1, have a little evening lunch with coffee, and engage in basement dartball competition. A small group in existence for generations, their discussions include quite a few laughs and are likely to cover all manner of topics, such as: computers, machinery, weather, farming, and local history. Put down roots with us; there's a place at the table for you.

Immanuel Lutheran Choir

Gifted vocalists lead our congregation in song every Sunday. During the church's festival seasons, occasional choral pieces are also specially offered.

Immanuel - St. John Youth Group

We have a new Youth Group in conjunction with our sister congregation, St. Johns, Sargeant. In the past year, the youth have gone Christmas caroling to the homes of various members, made sandwiches for Superbowl Sunday, and taken a retreat at Camp Omega. We are preparing to attend the LCMS National Youth Gathering in the Summer of 2016.

Wednesday Night Bible Study

The Word of God shapes our life at Immanuel, and so weekly Bible Study is central to our mission. This year we are studying the Book of Daniel in depth, and the Biblical writings that intersect with it. These sessions take place every Wednesday night at eight o'clock. We take a summer break until August.

Adult Instruction and Confirmation

No matter your background, place in life, or church-attendance record, Pastor Duling can meet with you individually to discuss your walk of faith from your unique perspective. Adult Instruction can either be casual and unstructured, or an intentional course in our faith, leading to full membership at Immanuel!

Youth Instruction and Confirmation

The regular way our young members are examined before receiving the Lord's Supper at Immanuel is by way of three years of strong catechesis in God's Word. Our class meets throughout the school year on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:30. Typically grades 7 through 9, but older students are welcomed too!

Sunday School

Education in the Christian faith is explicit in Jesus' command to make disciples of all nations. We have gifted Sunday School teachers who give personal attention to each student, while making use of the best multi-media educational materials available. Every Christmas Eve is our traditional Christmas program -- a beloved memory for many. Summer Vacation Bible School also forms an important part of our Sunday School outreach.

Mary-Martha Circle

The mission of the Mary Martha Circle is to serve! They meet frequently for sewing days to work on rugs and quilts, which are donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester. The Annual Country Store outreach event is led by the ladies of the Circle to provide a fun supper night for the community. They do not hesitate to serve lunches for funerals, or to provide gifts and help to those in need of encouragement.

Sewing Days

Sewing Days are the regular gatherings of the Mary Martha Circle and friends. If you're eager to share your creativity for a good cause, gather with us on select Sunday afternoons.  We bring together various craft skills in order to produce one-of-a-kind items for people in need. This is a lively group, to say the least.

Annual Country Store

Every Fall, Immanuel offers a community supper for any and all comers. Famous for its crafts, pies, pickles, homemade salsas, jams, and cookies, the Country Store is a yearly tradition providing a safe place for newcomers to meet members of our congregation, relatives, and other locals all at once. This year, it landed on October 1, 2015.
